The Powers’ Family

Birth is an intense and beautiful journey that demands all of you, and the best option you have is to surrender and embrace it. It’s a journey not meant to walk alone—one I feel both called, and honored, to take alongside other moms as they navigate it.

“I will support you through all of the things; fear, concern, anxiety, happiness or excitement and yes, through the intensity of contractions.”

Bio

I’m Leah, a blessed child of God, a wife to a faithful man who captured my heart at 18, a mom, a birth doula, a volleyball coach, a soon to be home-school teacher, an aspiring gardener, an author/illustrator of children’s books, a decent food and bread maker, and pretty much just a self-taught Jane-of-all-trades. And if I’m not doing one of those things, I’m somewhere in my house organizing or rearranging furniture to change things up, which I do way more than my husband can stand.

I love Jesus and witnessing the miracle of life at birth!

After achieving a physiologic birth basically out of stubbornness and some education with my first birth experience… curiosity, and my passion for the birth world ignited. As I deepened my education of physiologic birth, I crafted an environment and a support team for my second birth that understood and respected undisturbed birth even more than I did at the time. My first two  births, though very different, had the same approach; To give birth the way God intended.

But I didn’t stop there.

I’ve achieved physiologic births with all of my children thus far…

  1. birthing center birth in a hospital (2019)

  2. homebirth (2021)

  3. early infant loss at 12 weeks gestation (2023)

  4. planned unassisted birth at home (2024).

Bio cont.

After our miscarriage that rocked my world I was called spiritually to full surrender to God, to rely on Him in every aspect of my life unlike ever before. Leading into the birth of our fourth child, I knew I could give birth undisturbed on my own terms at home. So I prepared my husband, Marc, for the wild ride ahead and we did it. This baby came unrelenting, BUTT first, into the arms of my husband and me. (You can read more about that birth on my Facebook page) That experience deepened my appreciation for my body, my baby, my husband, my Jesus, and ‘birth’ in itself. It brings me utter joy when I dwell on it! Confirming more than ever before that this is what I was born to do.

To be a mom and help others as they become one themselves.

Birth is an intense and beautiful journey that demands all of you, and the best option you have is to surrender and embrace it. It’s a part of one’s journey not meant to walk alone—one I feel both called, and honored, to take alongside other moms as they navigate it.

I’m no stranger to sharing my journey with others. In fact, it’s a core belief of mine that that is why we are here–to ‘do life’ with one another. I’m also no stranger to servanthood and caretaking; my faith is built on it. I find the joy of the Lord in serving families as they bring life into the world, it’s like my own little niche ministry. Babies are miracles, and their entry earth-side should be nothing short of worthy of that miracle! Amen?!

You’ve partnered with the creator in creating life, and now you deserve to partner with me to welcome that little one here.

Your birth matters, and it will affect you and your baby for life. Building the bridge to your birth should take thoughtful and precise planning; you’re worth investing in Mama.
